Three Sport Star Jim Walsh


Jim Walsh was a tremendous collegiate athlete, managing to play baseball, football and hockey during his time at Northeastern University. Walsh came was selected to travel to the National Sports Festival in order to try out for the 1980 US Olympic team. After his three-year stint with Northeastern, he signed a free agent contract with the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres.
The defenseman played several seasons with the Rochester Americans (1979-82) and became the only American born Captain in the American Hockey League. Other AHL stops included Binghamton and New Haven.
With his playing days behind him, Jim Walsh began a second career in construction with his own Boston-based engineering and contracting firm. In 1991 Jim Walsh was elected to the Northeastern University Hall of Fame.
